Kjetil Fallan is Professor of Design History in the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas at the University of Oslo, and a co-founder of the Oslo School of Environmental Humanities. He is the author of Designing Modern Norway: A History of Design Discourse (Routledge 2017) and Design History: Understanding Theory and Method (Berg Publishers 2010), and of numerous articles published in a range of journals including the Journal of Design HistoryDesign IssuesDesign and CultureEnterprise and Society, and History and Technology. He is the editor of The Culture of Nature in the History of Design (Routledge 2019) and Scandinavian Design: Alternative Histories (Berg Publishers 2012) and co-editor, with Grace-Lees Maffei, of Made in Italy: Rethinking a Century of Italian Design (Bloomsbury Academic 2013) and Designing Worlds: National Design Histories in an Age of Globalization (Berghahn Books 2016), as well as the book series Cultural Histories of Design (Bloomsbury Academic). Fallan is past editor of the Journal of Design History and serves on the advisory board of Design and Culture.
